Im angesehenen US-Magazin „The Absolute Sound“ hat Alan Taffel die Magico S 5 besprochen. Sein Bericht erscheint zwei Jahre nach dem ersten Eintreffen der S 5 in seinem Hörraum – ungewöhnlich.
Zunächst hebt er treffend die bemerkenswerte Auflösungsfähigkeit der S 5 hervor, die sich nicht nur auf einen Frequenzbereich konzentriert, sondern sich geradlinig durch das gesamte Spektrum durchzieht, sowie die Linerarität und das Timing, beides „nearly perfect“.
Doch Auflösung ist nicht alles:
„What I particularly like about the S5, though, is its ability to not only deconstruct the music, but to put it back together again into a cohesive, organic whole. If I had to choose between ultimate resolution and this ability to present the sum of the musical parts, I would opt for the latter. As it turns out, with the S5 there is no need to choose.“
Dazu gesellt sich der straffe und kontrollierte Baß
„… the still-tight bass lends these speakers an indefatigable, propulsive sense of rhythm“
und die Stimmwiedergabe ist nicht über-neutral, sondern kontrolliert angewärmt mit „sweetness“.
Das Fazit:
